Washington needs to stabilize Western Europe? Everything we have done since the SMO began has been aimed at destroying Europe, and the project has gone swimmingly.

Thanks for the interesting alert.

From Maria Zacharova's statement suggests (to me) that it could be a flight to ferry a replacement Russian Ambassador to the USA, given that the last one left in frustration after getting a cold shoulder in DC for so long, he was in danger of frostbite.

Isn't against American law for Americans, even a President-elect, to conduct Foreign Relations unless they are the reining POTUS or authorized by the reining POTUS (compis mentis or not)?

I will add a statement of my surprise that your list of likely/potential problems to be solved by negotiation is the exit of Ukraine troops from Kursk. My impression is that the Russians are in no hurry for the Ukrainians to leave, given their apparent plan to not allow anyone fighting for Ukraine survive without being captured or surrendering. The Ukrainians, OTOH want to retain a troop presence in Kursk for as long as possible. The problem is for the troops who will be maimed or killed in the fighting, and that is quite likely to be a low priority in initial direct talks. After all demilitarization and denazification are prime Russian goals that are served by the war of attrition.
