The only "new idea" I am aware of is the one which is apparently being encouraged by the Ukraine's attacks on civilian infrastructure deep in Russia -- and that is many of the Russian people are now calling for Russia to take the gloves off and finish the Ukraine (and any European co-belligerents who get in the way), WWII-style. Zelensky is not going to win on the battlefield, and the deep attacks on Russia are probably going to backfire on him.
There are two entities which could end the war -- Europe and China. It seems that the European leadership has no interest in ending its funding and material support for the proxy war. But the EU has (foolishly?) sparked a trade conflict with China. Reportedly China has responded to the EU's action by stopping the export of dual-use items to Europe -- which may soon impact drone availability in the Ukraine. It would be ironic if Zelensky falls because of a silly EU trade dispute with China -- but it is quite possible.

I'm not sure a belligerent (US) in a conflict can also be a mediator. Unless all weapons, money, and intelligence sharing is suspended first.
Also, everything relating to NATO forward bases in the Middle East needs to be written in past tense.
