Where is the disaster?

Sure things are a bit messy, as expected after a civil/military clash, but Wagner is moving to Belarus, operations in Africa and Syria continue and Ukraine has not been able to gain any significant ground even during the highly publicized revolt.

It might be more productive to view this as a failed marketing campaign, now withdrawn, to boost the priority accorded the Wagner team. They get sent down to the minors (Belarus) for their pains and will have to work harder to regain Kremlin favor. For the rest, Russia has no shortage of generals, albeit none with as grandiose a nickname as Surovikin.

So a tempest in a teapot 'a la Russe', at least imho.

Thanks. He is occasionally on YouTube. I am not sure it corrects much speculation, but his point of view is interesting.

Stephen, McGovern is a co-founder of VIPS (Veteran Intelligence for Sanity), and has been out front for many years. He's been deplatformed from official sources, of course, but I haven't seen him disproved in the three years I've followed him. Some of the VIPS Memos to the President and other US state actors make you wish they had been taken to heart. Small selection at https://consortiumnews.com/vips-memos/.

It is very difficult with Russian publications to know their sources. Yudin was the head of the 2,000 or so Wagnerites that were heading to Moscow before Putin made his deal with Prigozhin. As is known, he was the second in charge after Prigozhin. He was not detained, as earlier stories alleged, but was working from home, he told that to the Ura internet newspaper (itself a problematic source). So far there is no confirmation he has been dismissed from the army, but I would not be surprised.
