Wow! That’s quite a history lesson. Can you imagine the MSM reporting all of that? No one would believe it. None of them have ever heard of any of those places.

At the end of WWII, Poland was basically 'sold out' by the USA and UK to Stalin, even though Poland had never capitulated to Germany, fought with the Allies, and had a Government in exile ready to take control. Communist oppression forced upon Poland, and borders not restored to those existing in September 1939. I do not support NATO expansion in opposition to earlier promises made. They are stirring up a hornets nest.

How is coveting of old territories and maneuvering to get them back any different than what Russia has done in taking chunks out of Ukraine? Americans look at this and see that Europe just reverts to being sugar-coated Hutus and Tutsis. I suppose that Russia sees it, too.

"Relying on the American political tailwind, Warsaw and Bucharest strive for"

Sure, just like the Ukraine was riding the American political tailwind.

The US has a way of turning upon his friends.

As they say, with friends like this, who needs enemies? Especially Russia!

"France forced the dismemberment of historical Hungary. Hungary lost two-thirds of its territory and one-third of its population."

"Hungary" had "historically" been Austrian property since the 1500s so it had nothing to lose. Perhaps better to say the brand new Hungarian state was devised to exclude quite a lot of territory populated by Hungarians.

This was very informative. Its why this blog is essential reading for me.

Hahahaha. Hungarians were majority in Transylvanian cities because for centuries hungarians, szekelys and germans forbade romanians from living in cities; and you also forbade romanians from building stone churches. Eventually it was allowed but no orthodox churches were allowed in cities so romanians did not want to live in cities.

Romania and Poland have 0 territorial ambitions towards Ukraine. You are delusional but most likely you're intentionally constructing a false narrative.

I am very sorry for Hungary that yet again your dreams of Greater Hungary are crushed by the same alliance that is keeping you prosperous, safe and independent.

I guess you really dislike being prosperous, safe and independent and would like your leader dictated from Moscow again just as long as you get a little bit more land, right?

Beauty. Let's summarize it, either Ukraine gets torn to pieces and everyone gets a chunk or this conflict escalates (though NATO troops moving in from Poland and Romania) and Russia may attack some NATO bases in Poland and Romania, with or without the use of nuclear weapons.

Perhaps Russia can cut a. deal with Moldova. Stay neutral, out of NATO and get access to the Black Sea after Ukraine has been cut into pieces.

Funny also how Romania is allowed to protect its citizens in other countries, while Russia isn't.

Romania and Hungary (for other reasons) should think twice about going down this path at the present, much of NATO surplus artillery pieces and shells have been spent in Ukraine. Will Nato have eight years to supply and build up Romanian ˝defences˝ against the Russians? Will the Romanian youth sign up for conscription, after seeing what is going on in Ukraine? The biggest possible blunder/gift at this point NATO can give Russia is (Romania/NATO forces) to attack Transnistria from Moldova, this would give Russia the casus belli to link up with Serbia and slice its access to the Black sea throught the Danube and lose the gains made in the Balkans. When your adversary insists on committing mistakes, stand back and wait for for the opportune moment to take advantage and strike. Time for NATO to take a few steps back, regroup and negotiate, not to keep doubling down.
