Prigozhin’s maneuver is an interesting side issue to the war. Because it is difficult to separate fact from speculation, it invites an interesting discussion. I have no inside info but I can attempt to analyze the situation. First, it has been apparent that Russia stopped fighting an offensive on the ground war several months ago and Prigozhin’s private army excursion in Bakhmut was his alone and done with misgivings from the Russian military, who decided that “lone wolves” are not an asset and determined to get rid of him. After the battle, the “go it alone” Prigozhin’s forces had nowhere to go but home. Naturally, the embarrassed and rejected Prigozhin had to complain and firmly express himself as he scrambled to find a place for his troops and found it in Rostov. Dramatic interpretations of Prigozhin’s words, indicating mutiny, and subtle suggestions that “he has taken Rostov and is prepared to go to Moscow” are ridiculous dramatizations of a ludicrous situation. Would Prigozhin entertain hanging from a rope and would any of his liberated criminals turned patriotic soldiers jeopardize their new found liberty by engaging in an insurrection? Methinks something has been lost in translation.

Five bucks says that the US claims that this was part of the Ukraine strategy and that peace and the defeat of Russia will happen by the end of the year.
