Prigozhin’s maneuver is an interesting side issue to the war. Because it is difficult to separate fact from speculation, it invites an interesting discussion. I have no inside info but I can attempt to analyze the situation. First, it has been apparent that Russia stopped fighting an offensive on the ground war several months ago and Prigozhin’s private army excursion in Bakhmut was his alone and done with misgivings from the Russian military, who decided that “lone wolves” are not an asset and determined to get rid of him. After the battle, the “go it alone” Prigozhin’s forces had nowhere to go but home. Naturally, the embarrassed and rejected Prigozhin had to complain and firmly express himself as he scrambled to find a place for his troops and found it in Rostov. Dramatic interpretations of Prigozhin’s words, indicating mutiny, and subtle suggestions that “he has taken Rostov and is prepared to go to Moscow” are ridiculous dramatizations of a ludicrous situation. Would Prigozhin entertain hanging from a rope and would any of his liberated criminals turned patriotic soldiers jeopardize their new found liberty by engaging in an insurrection? Methinks something has been lost in translation.

Prigozhin has said what he said and he has been threatening for months. I think your comments about Bakhmut are interesting and there is no doubt there was serious tension between Wagner and the Russian army. His forces are reportedly on the road heading to Moscow, so we shall see what happens. Personally, I would be surprised in Prigozhin survives.

Thanks again for your comments.

The German army could not take Moscow. Can a thrown together group of 25,000 non-professionals expect to do it? A few helicopter gunships can stop the advance. Strange that here has not been a single encounter or casualty in this mutiny. Something wierd and illogical in the "news reports."

Five bucks says that the US claims that this was part of the Ukraine strategy and that peace and the defeat of Russia will happen by the end of the year.

The US has to be very careful. When you say you are complicit in causing a coup in Russia, you end up in a war.

On the other hand I am not betting $5

Agreed. I happen to think that there's no one behind the wheel of the Ukraine war communications car in the US and that random passengers grab it every so often to turn it in a new direction without thinking. Which makes you wise to not risk your $5.
